Ingredients

Scale

Cauliflower

  • 1 large head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
  2. Prepare Cauliflower: Toss the cauliflower florets with olive oil on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are spread out in a single layer for even roasting.
  3. Roast Cauliflower: Roast the cauliflower in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the florets are tender and slightly browned, enhancing their natural sweetness.
  4. Make Sauce: While the cauliflower roasts, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and optional red pepper flakes in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sauce simmers and thickens slightly, about 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  5. Combine and Serve: Transfer the roasted cauliflower to a large bowl and pour the warm honey garlic sauce over it. Toss gently to coat all pieces evenly with the sticky sauce. Serve immediately garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add a splash of sriracha to the sauce.
  • To make the cauliflower extra crispy, spread the florets well apart on the baking sheet and avoid overcrowding.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice or quinoa for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven to maintain crispness.
