Ingredients

Scale

Bread Batter

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (plus additional for filling)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Filling

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted (additional as noted)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk them together until fully blended.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold together until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Prepare Cinnamon Filling: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the brown sugar and ground cinnamon until smooth and well blended.
  6. Layer Batter and Filling: Pour half of the batter into the greased loaf pan. Evenly sprinkle half of the cinnamon filling over this layer. Add the remaining batter on top, followed by the rest of the cinnamon filling. Using a knife, gently swirl through the layers to create a marbled effect.
  7. Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Prepare Icing: While the bread cools, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and drizzling consistency is achieved.
  10. Drizzle Icing: Once the bread is fully cooled, drizzle the icing over the top of the bread before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender and light.
  • Make sure the bread is completely cool before adding icing to prevent it from melting and running off.
  • For a stronger cinnamon flavor, you can add a bit more cinnamon to the filling to taste.
  • This bread stores well in an airtight container for 2-3 days at room temperature.
  • Optionally, warm slices slightly before serving for a freshly baked feel.
