Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp Marinade

  • 1 pound peeled, deveined shrimp – thawed and patted dry
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes

Shrimp Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped – optional

Instructions

  1. Marinate the shrimp: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the shrimp with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and red chili flakes. Toss everything together to coat the shrimp evenly and refrigerate for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
  2. Cook the shrimp: Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the marinated shrimp and cook for 2 minutes without moving, allowing them to sear on one side.
  3. Add honey and lime juice: Flip the shrimp, then pour in the honey and lime juice. Toss the shrimp gently to coat them in the sauce and continue cooking for another 2 to 3 minutes, or until the shrimp are opaque, fully cooked, and the sauce has thickened nicely.
  4. Finish and serve: Remove the skillet from heat, taste the shrimp, and adjust the seasoning if needed. Sprinkle with chopped parsley for a fresh finish and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

  • For more heat, increase the red chili flakes to taste.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best citrus flavor.
  • Serve with steamed rice, quinoa, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • Do not overcook shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Cast-iron skillet is recommended to get a nice sear, but any heavy-bottomed pan will work.
